Brainware would like to thank those of you who joined us for our webinar with IDC, "Document Process Automation-Brighter Lights Are Imminent," this week.
According to 65% of viewers, "invoices and other accounting documents" was perceived at the operation best positioned to benefit from automaiton within their organization. While intelligent data capture technology is a proven value driver across the operation, numerous case studies will back up the claim that accounts payable operations can realize immense gains in efficiency and visibility through process automation.
Nearly the same proportion of viewers, 64%, stated that their current document capture process was best described as scanning for manual indexing and data entry. Essentially, this reflects an early, outdated approach to document process automation. While this basic imaging approach does allow users to store paper documents electronically, very little of the actual work is removed from the process. You still have data entry personnel spending their days keying data, creating a slow, monotonous process that inevitably creates costly errors. Intelligent data capture technology removes the vast majority of this manual labor from the process, redefining the keying process as one of mere exception handling. This reduces errors, speeds the process and allows personnel to contribute to more valuable functions within the organization.
Our third poll question asked viewerd to weigh in on perceived barriers to investing in technologies that automate document processing; unsurprisingly, most respondents felt that is was a combination of high costs and an inability to devote extensive IT resources to such an implementation. The truth is, intelligent data capture has long since reached the point where it can be integrated with any type of legacy ERP or ECM platform, often in a matter of days. Additionally, many customers are realizing a return on investment in less than a year, in additional to "soft" ROI such as improved job satisfaction. The long-term benefits of automating with intelligent data capture are well-documented.
Keep an eye on our home page, as this webinar will be available for viewing, in its entirety, very shortly.
